Professional photographers: what camera do you use? home landscape
Before I go off to university, I want to purchase a high quality digital camera that is used by professional photographers. I plan to take courses and minor in photography, and I would like to know what is the best camera. I currently use a Canon Powershot digital camera, but I want to venture on to a bigger camera that better resembles a film camera. I mostly use my camera to capture close-ups of wildlife, both flora and fauna, but I hope to expand to taking pictures of people and landscapes as well.
Any suggestions?
Answer by Vinegar Taster
Got an extra $ 45,000 + ? Your camera will be on the site below.
Seriously, a rookie doesn’t need a professional camera ! It will be more than she / he can handle. I’d look at a Nikon D3100 if I were you. It’s a good camera to start with.
Answer by Hondo
Professional cameras cost between $ 4,000 and $ 43,000. You need an entry level DSLR.

I’m looking for some Hollywood or Los Angeles, California photography sites and/or blogs. Like tumblr, or any other site that is mostly centered around that type. I mean like, the landscapes, beaches, buildings, Hollywood sign, etc. (i don’t want something that is completely centered around girls or their bodies)
Any suggestions? It would be greatly appreciated.

Does anyone know whose house this describes? landscape contractor
A house designed “in harmony with the landscape.” To reduce heating and cooling needs, prevailing winds and temperatures were taken into account in situating the building. The house also uses two lesser-known environmentally friendly technologies: geothermal heating and wastewater recycling.
Inside a closet, a collection of pipes is thrust deep into the earth, down where the sun don’t shine and the temperature is perpetually 67 degrees. Water circulates through this zone and then back up into house pipes to heat or cool the building. The system uses less electricity than conventional heating and cooling installations, but that electricity does come from the local electric grid. The house also has a well and recycles its water. Water that flows out a tub drain is known as “gray water”; water from the toilet is “black water.” This home recycles both types via subterranean filtration tanks and uses the resultant cleaner water in the garden. Hint: it’s in Crawford Texas.

Funny how Republicans do things themselves that Democrats won’t do to be environmentally friendly. That system also works in cold places like Michigan.
Answer by surroundedbyimbeciles
I think you omitted the closing line of the article from which this came:
“[I]t’s an utter mystery: How can this man, whose administration has gutted environmental protection as though it were a trout, care enough to recycle toilet water in his home?”
How indeed?
So I know that i want a tattoo on my fore-arm… i have pretty small arms but am hoping to get a medium/large sized tattoo on my inner forearm that is a picture and a quote about wisdom or strength.. any ideas for pictures and quotes? Where can I find good designs and I want the picture to be either a bear, wolf, or landscape. And no color… just greys and blacks… please help!
Answer by mamaof1
I’m gonna sound so old saying this but I wouldn’t put it on your forearm. I have 3 tattoos and they are all hidden. One goes down my whole side but I can still look professional. If you want ideas go to the tattoo shop and just start telling them your thoughts about what you like. They will draw some up for you. My tattoo guy spends hours with me going back and forth before we get it just right. And if you do a quote in a different language triple check the spelling before you get it tattooed lol I’ve seen way too many misspelled tattoos haha
Answer by Chels
I agree with the other answer, think this over 10,000 times and then 100 more times. I just got a tattoo on my forearm that I was sure I wanted for years, and it’s too big, and I hate it and am totally ashamed. Don’t make my mistake!
Answer by V is for Vengeance
My question for you is what career do you have? or what field are you planning on getting into? If you dont have a career choice or a career I dont suggest getting a large or medium sized tattoo on your forearm. Forearm tattoos are very visable especially on women, I mean honestly most career choices at least good paying ones dont want visable tattoos so that is something you HAVE to think about. Also having other people suggest tattoos and quotes is NOT a good idea, this is something you have to think about for at least four months. Its not something you just go out and do for the hell of it, as its going to be with you forever. If you want a tattoo, I suggest getting them in places that are easily hidden; foot, back, upper arm.
Interesting and weird animals? landscape architecture
For NCEA Level One Art, I need to choose an animal to do my art board on. I just can’t decide on an animal.
I was thinking of doing an elephant, but I’d have to paint and draw the wrinkly skin in detail. I was also thinking of a sun bear but I’m really not sure.
I want to do something that no-one else would think of. An exotic animal, prefferably bright in colour? But it doesn’t have to be. One that lives in an interesting landscape, and an animal that I can easily make a theme on.
Any ideas??

I have a new home but the back yard is a disaster. Nothing but weeds, dry grass, and a small dead tree. HELP landscape painting
I really don’t even know where to start. Do I need a rototiller? I would like to put in desert landscaping (I live in southern Arizona). Any help is much appreciated.
Answer by Marilyn B
My son just moved to Casa Grande and he was faced with the same challenge. What he did, I would not recommend. He sprayed his entire backyard with weed killer and then bought yards and yards of pepples from Pioneer Stone. So the entire backyard is a sea of stone. Carefree but boring! I suggested that he at least put in a water feature (like a cool, contemporary water fountain) but he said that it would be full of algae within 24 hours. There are chemical algaecides, I told him.

Spray it all with roundup until anything is dead. Put whatever flower beds in that you are going to put in. Then rototill the rest and sow the grass seed.

I have 2 dogs that run up and down the fence, therefore that stretch is constantly muddied and kicked up. Can’t get grass to grow there. It has been suggested that I put down some material (mulch, gravel) in the area that they run. Any suggestions of what kind of material? Or any other suggestions on how to deal with this section of my yard? My dogs will eat small rocks and has chewed/eaten muclh from other flower beds.
Answer by artfulmason
Lol bark mulch
Answer by donna d
mulch would be my suggestion but if your dogs are eating it there goes that idear why don’t you lay down some gravel there so this way they won’t harm anything all it would be is gravel they can run up and down as much as they want.
Answer by Donald S
I’d put a row of bushes there to keep the dogs attention away from that area , as well as their “run”. There has to be a reason they’re drawn to that spot along the fence, another dog, children’s activity etc….
You can’t block their hearing but blocking their line of sight may help.
There’s also a liquid called ” Dog Gone” that you can spray there. It repels the dogs with scent. NON HARMFUL to you dogs.
Your opinion please Days after Ariz. law passed some illegals plan to leave, say work is drying up? landscape garden
PHOENIX (AP) — Many of the cars that once stopped in the Home Depot parking lot to pick up day laborers to hang drywall or do landscaping now just drive on by.
Arizona’s sweeping immigration bill allows police to arrest illegal immigrant day laborers seeking work on the street or anyone trying to hire them. It won’t take effect until summer but it is already having an effect on the state’s underground economy.
“Nobody wants to pick us up,” Julio Loyola Diaz says in Spanish as he and dozens of other men wait under the shade of palo verde trees and lean against a low brick wall outside the east Phoenix home improvement store.
Many day laborers like Diaz say they will leave Arizona because of the law, which also makes it a crime to be in the U.S. illegally and directs police to question people about their immigration status if there is reason to suspect they are illegal immigrants.
Supporters of the law hope it creates jobs for thousands of Americans.
“We want to drive day labor away,” says Republican Rep. John Kavanagh, one of the law’s sponsors.
An estimated 100,000 illegal immigrants have left Arizona in the past two years as it cracked down on illegal immigration and its economy was especially hard hit by the Great Recession. A Department of Homeland Security report on illegal immigrants estimates Arizona’s illegal immigrant population peaked in 2008 at 560,000, and a year later dipped to 460,000.
The law’s supporters hope the departure of illegal immigrants will help dismantle part of the underground economy here and create jobs for thousands of legal residents in a state with a 9.6 percent unemployment rate.
Kavanagh says day labor is generally off the books, and that deprives the state of much-needed tax dollars. “We’ll never eliminate it, just like laws against street prostitution,” he says. “But we can greatly reduce the prevalence.”
Day laborers do jobs including construction, landscaping and household work for cash paid under the table. Those jobs have been harder to find since the housing industry collapsed here several years ago.
Standing near potted trees and bushes for sale at a Home Depot in east Phoenix, Diaz, 35, says he may follow three families in his neighborhood who moved to New Mexico because of the law. He says a friend is finding plenty of work in Dallas.

Once upon a purple moon there was an escaped Ronaldoholic known simply as Laura? landscape contractor
she traveled through the eclectic land of the mushroom people. She sat next to a giant mushroom in order to get a little bit of shade from the intense glare of the green sun. She was on a pilgrimage to reach the homeland of C Ronaldo in order to light his candles of quintessential glory.
As she traveled through the forests of mushrooms a curious gnome approached her with what she claimed was a remedy of all ills. This gnome was known as Stefania and her remedy would actually lull Laura to sleep so she could steal all of Laura’s cupcakes. Laura was about to take the remedy when an evil crow known as Zeid stole the remedy for his own twisted purposes. Stefania grumbled at her misfortune and revealed a dagger to steal the cupcakes. Laura fled in terror and unfortunately for Stefania her little legs could not catch up.
As Laura ran the forests of mushrooms began to thin and soon she was left standing in a golden valley. The glare of the green sun brought sweat to her endeavors. She walked amongst the golden plains for a few hours as she ate some cupcakes. But the scent of cupcakes attracted the attention of the evil centaur of the golden plains known as La Pulga. He came galloping towards the pilgrim known as Laura with full determination with saliva foaming from his growling mouth. Laura was once again forced to run in terror as the evil Centaur gave chase in order to steal her cupcakes of ecstasy.
Laura’s shrieks of terror were heard by the Harpy known as Ines. She flew out of her nest cautiously and gazed at the horizon with an intense look of curiosity. She knew that the shrieks would awaken the beast of the valley, the truest form of evil in the entire realm, the wurm known as Iker. The very earth began to tremble as the beast known as Iker approached, Ines could already she the golden scales of the giant wurm. She flew quickly towards the still shrieking Laura. She swept towards the ground and grabed Laura with her mighty talons and flew to some nearby stones for cover. Laura filled with terror tried to escape but Ines held her firm to their position of hiding.
The giant wurm known as Iker crawled its way to the area. Its enormous size filled the entire landscape as it roared such a piercing terror that filled the entire world with melancholy. The vexed eyes of the beast searched the landscape, but luckily for Ines and Laura their position was missed. But it spotted the evil Centaur known as La Pulga, which was quickly devoured by the wurm.
In the distant skyline the crow known as Zeid approached with incredible speed. It zoomed in and out of Iker’s jaws without being scratched. In this daring procession Zeid was able to drop Stefania’s sleeping potion into iker’s jaws. With a tremendous crash the giant wurm fell to the ground. Zeid the crow softly landed onto the ground and transformed into a being part crow and part human. He began to peel the golden scales of iker loose, which he would no doubt use to create a small fortune for himself.
In the distant stones Ines and Laura began to chat. Laura told Ines of her quest to light the candles of C Ronaldo’s temple and Ines proclaimed that she would fly her to the forests of Dysphoria which border this temple, but no further. As they flew off into the distance the green sun began to ste, and it filled the world with darkness.
In the dark woods of Dysphoria Larua walked with great caution around giant redwoods and pines. In these woods a dark sorceress known as Miranda roamed using her spells to create such misery and gloom. The bright enthusiasm of Laura brought great distress to the dark sorceress and she summoned her troll minions known as MJ and Jigsaw. She proclaimed the demise of Laura and sent them off to accomplish this prophecy.
Laura began to hear footsteps approaching and she hide in between two giant roots of a sick redwood. She saw the trolls as they sniffed for her location. A snarl came onto Jigsaw’s face once he located the now trembling Laura and he lunged at her position. Laura sprinted away from her position throwing bark into Jigsaws eyes. MJ began to pursue by swinging from tree to tree never touching the ground. Soon he was directly above the fleeing Laura and she dashing to her right. But Jigsaw was there waiting for her. However to Laura’s great suprise MJ and Jigsaw began to fight over who would claim the prize and allowed Laura to sneak away.
In a matter of hours Laura reached the temple of Cristiano Ronaldo and was able to light the candles of quintessential glory. Then she contimplated her trip back home.

Hey I am new to yahoo answers, and was just wondering if someone can proof read my essay? Thank you :) part 1? how to landscape
T.S Eliot’s poetry effectively reflects the dominant ways of thinking of the time in which his poems were composed. In the context of Eliot’s poems the beginning of the 20th Century marked a time of change where there was a shift from rationalism to the acceptation of modernism. Influenced by the new knowledge particularly in the science department, such as Darwinism and the rapid development in advanced technology, the movement challenged religion and certainties were disturbed, resulting in industrialization and the move from rural to urban landscapes. Consequently, there was the occurrence of alienation, uncertainty and social and spiritual dislocation, which led to society being more introspective and solitude. This is evident in the two poems ‘Rhapsody on a Windy Night’ and ‘Preludes’.
Preludes and Rhapsody on a Windy Night , both composed in the year 1917, can both be interpreted as modernist writing as they both reject traditional forms of writing and explore the art of a rapidly transforming world of industrial development and urbanization. Within the two pieces, Eliot effectively reflects the world he lived and wrote in with the utilization of various language techniques to reinforce his perception on the corruption of environment, alienation of individuals and their state of mind.
T.S Eliot’s poem, “Rhapsody on a Windy Night” is set in the city and describes a lonely nightwalker on the streets of an urban landscape. He makes use of motifs on several occasions to emphasize the alienation and state of mind of this strange man who is walking by himself in the early hours of the morning. The streetlamp mentioned several times throughout the poem can symbolize the only connection the character has with anything on the street. The light sourced from the lamp represents the only good in his world and the moments of potential hope that can only be found within its limits. This recurring symbol also focuses on the isolation of the individual in this space. The dark can be related to the vague, mysterious and the unknown. Where there is light, the association of clarity, security and the hope in the midst of darkness is made. These streetlamps punctuate his walk with life, demonstrating how the little hopes in the nightwalker’s life are only brief and goes away once he walks into the darkness, thereby giving the reader and insight into the nightwalker’s state of mind. Likewise, the moon mentioned in the poem creates a world where society feels fear in the dark. It takes away the sense of mind into the surreal, where darkness is perceived as eerie, disturbing and ambiguous.
In Preludes, the isolation and separation of the main character is also evident. Sensory imagery in the poem draws attention to the individual in a cityscape. The poem addresses the issue of segregation from the rest of the world through the eyes of an anonymous person observing the city life on a winter’s evening. The diction of words such as “masquerades” implies the alienation of each citizen living in the suburban area. Similar to how masks are worn at masquerade balls to cover a person’s face, the masks implied by Eliot hide one’s individuality as well as the negative side of the human behaviour. This indication further mirrors the condition of city life in the age that Eliot lived in. The notion of a disguise creates an imaginary wall of distance between the people observed by the character in the poem, signifying the detachment of an individual from the city. On another note, “One thinks of all the hands that are raising dingy shades” emphasizes the perception that the individual has the need to close the blinds, therefore, shutting off from the outside world. In the seclusion of one’s own home, there is a more secure feeling and the mask can be taken off. The attempt for society to hide away one’s true identity from others in this poem can be interpreted as a means of withdrawal into solitude, reinforcing the negative effects of urbanization.

This:

should be this:

i just dreamed this last night, what do you think? me and some people (i have no idea who they are, i’ve never seen any of them before) seem to be going around exploring things on what appears to be earth. seems like there are 4 other guys in my dream (2 of which keep causing trouble for the group for some reason) and 2 girls, and 1 of the girls is the “leader” of our “explorer group”. the only thing constant in the background is it is day and there is a light gray overcast. I am constantly in the foreground acting as a “scout” or so it seems. The landscape looks like poland/hungary/russia, kind of a grayish old looking landscape, with small lakes and gray forests. The lady who is our leader is constantly orating to us on where to go and yelling at those 2 guys who seem to stick to the back, one of them is associated with the color red for some reason, and i am a little distanced from the group constantly up ahead looking around. i think that there are old windmills, and gently rolling hills with small streams thoughout most of the dream. the most vivid part, towards the end, we come upon what appears to be the ruins of an old castle?, or cathedral, or possibly old abondoned university. it is buried halfway in the ground where you cant see any doors that would lead to the interior anymore, made of gray or brown stone, but the windows towards the top towers still lead inside. There are 2 very large towers as part of it for sure, and we walked/flew over towards this area, both looking kind of cathedral like, half buried in the earth, and very large, seeming each tower is like 75ft diameter. We crossed towards one of the towers, walked on the “meadow” (the immediate sort of landscape around the towers) and were heading towards another, when I went to a “balcony” overshoot extending from the second tower (they were connected, seemed there would have been a port-cullis gate beneath the earth where they connected or something) and there were a ton of flying insects on this balcony, what appeared to be green dragonflies, different sizes and a ton of them. i was the first one to turn the bend around towards where the balcony connected to the tower, and being the first person they spotted, they swarmed me. most of them just brushed by me and flew past me, but i remember one of them landed on the left side of my head and i kept trying to shew it away and it just wouldn’t fly off me. that’s where it ended
around that area there was only the gray of the skies and the green of the trees it seemed, green and gray

What is a good digital SLR camera? I am looking for one thats get good macro photos.? landscape designers
im trying to find a good digital slr camera, but im being picky. Im looking to spend about $ 600 at least 10mp, rechargeable lithium battery, super close up macro mode, panoramic view, time lapse, good in low light and video. If anyone has one like this let me know what brand if such options exist on one camera. Any help appreciated, i mostly photograph close up, nature, landscapes, sunsets.
Thanks for all the answers so far.
Answer by Sweet Serenity
Any DSLR is capable of doing this, as long as it has a macro lens attached to it… so you should be looking for a good macro lens, not a good DSLR (although it is good to have one).
Answer by c_j_ryan
No matter what DSLR you have it’s the lens that makes it macro! Ergo, any DSLR will do the trick.
However, your saying “i mostly photograph close up, nature, landscapes, sunsets” is a bit of an oxyimoron, you’ll need a different lens for landscape shots!
So be as picky as you want, but you’ll not get “D”, all of the above for $ 600.
I’m a Canon fan, not that they’re the best, just the brand I like. So I’d suggest you look into a Canon G10 (see link). Because to get a the features you want in a DSLR, it’s going to cost you about 3K for a camera body, (5D II), about another 3K in lens’s, and about $ 500 in other goodies!
I’ll let the Nikon kids (no insult to them) tell you what it would cost going that way.
Answer by Andrew W
Hmm price is a hard limit there considering your limits, I can think of some Nikon and Cannon bodies that would be good but they are over your price range for sure. I would recommend looking for a used Nikon D80, 90, 200, 300 ect. Of if you prefer a Cannon EOS 300D, 350D, 400D, 450D, ect. Good luck on the hunt and try to get nice lenses if u can too but that might be a little ways off. (I recommend an 18-200mm but that regular price is at least $ 100 more then your range u mentioned total) Good Luck.
i use my camera for: band photoshoots, fahsion photoshoots, theatre photos, landscapes, macro
really need to know soon as it is my birthday in 2 weeks!

These are a couple of options (apart from your Fujifilm HS10/HS11):
-Panasonic Lumix FZ40 (or the older FZ 35)
-Canon SX 30 IS
If you don’t want very high zoom then do not choose a bridge camera. You can consider the following cameras:
- Panasonic lumix lx5
- Canon S90/S95
- Canon G11
- Nikon P7000
IMHO, Panasonic Lumix LX5 would be the best among these options. My friend who has a DSLR, uses this as a backup camera.
